Sun and Moon Invocations

Lord sun life of day
Great fire boat making way
Extend yourself with hands of light
To us who worship in your sight
Who in your ancient name rejoice
And hear the mystery of your voice

Lady moon cloud bound
Of liquid light an pale hounds
Course among us, your light diffuse
Bring your blessings to us who choose
The evening worship by silver flame
Singing your thousand living names

Elemental Circle

Cauldron of air around my brow
Warmed by rhythm of breath and sound
Telling more than a tongue's allowed
Open the sacred circle now

Tree of fire within my brow
Horse and hare and salmon and sow
By eye and hair and fin and crown
Light the sacred circle now

Maze of water above my brow
Blood and river and tide flow down
Walk the depths and be not drowned
Fill the sacred circle now

Veil of earth before my brow
Furrow turned with a living plow
Plant the seed and ask not how
Be the sacred circle now

Spring Planting Chant

Breath of life,
water of pleasure
Fire in the seed
Earth holds the treasure

Green Season Quarter Call

Air that blows idea-songs,
Breath of Gaia's sing-along,
The world exalts with voices ringing
Air! take our spirits winging!

Fire at growtime's blazing heart,
Quickening every living part,
We who dance to fan the flame,
Ask, Fire! let partner be your name!

Water shining in rain and river,
Thou nourisher and comfort giver.
We ask of you, Oh mother of flowers,
Gentle floods of life-stream power.

Earth, Thou art both bird and nest,
With spring-song filled and new life blessed.
We who call you are living eggs-
Earth, hatch and hold us we happily beg.

Maypole Song

The planting of the seed and the winding round the pole
And the dancing to the music and the plowing of the earth
Is the way the people did it in the forest and the field
In the springtime in the sunlight when the moon was coming up
In the springtime in the moonlight when the sun was going down
Was the time the people did it in the field and in the glade
With the dancing in the grass and the rhythm of the plowing
Was the planting of the seed and the winding round the pole

Evocation for Beltane

Maiden goddess with dark eyes, white thighs,
Who's that horned, hairy one trying to catch you?
Cleft foot god with pointed ears, laughing leer,
Whose limbs will soon be twining round you?
Greenwood lovers with mingled hair, bellies bare,
Whose scent and seed renew the world, that's who.
This sacred time of life flowing, green knowing-
Who joins the god and goddess to the earth - we do.

Samhain Candle Spell

Dark as night and twice as black
This ebon candle burns it's flame
Consuming all and taking back
Night and death, fear and shame
Darkly burn with sallow light
Taper black as night below
Grow you short this Samhain night
Take sorrow with you when you go
White candle-flame glow warm and bright
A token of the turning year
Sacred fire, gift of light ,
Bring honor, faith and friendship here.
For in this night of dark recall,
Of loved ones lost and darkened dreaming
Your flame means love and hope to all
Who work the veil of time's reweaving

Quarters for Winter Solstice

In the ancient way we create a sacred space calling on the spirits of the four quarters

From the East the spirit of magic whence came the magi
From the South the spirit of joy and love, whence comes the warmth of the returning sun
From the West the spirit of remembrance for there reside those who have gone before
From the North the spirit of tradition whence comes worship of the mother and her son who brings the light

Invocation for Winter Solstice

Be with us darkness, the earth, our lady
Wise one, mother, maiden borning
Be with us child of light her son
Reborn for us on solstice morning
